William Mulligan Earns All-American Honors At NCAA Division III Championship
Sophomore William Mulligan (Towaco, N.J.) notched an eighth place finish and earned All-American honors at the NCAA Division III Championship, hosted by the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse this weekend. The Wildcats recorded a 35th place finish as a team with senior Brennan Ward (Waterford, Conn.) also competing for the squad.
Mulligan, wrestling at 197 pounds reached the All-American round after posting a 2-1 record on Friday, including an upset against sixth seeded Tim Lutke of Centenary. On Saturday, Mulligan lost a decision via pin fall against Dubuque's Sam Johnson and wrapped up his weekend with a hard fought 4-3 setback in a rematch against Lutke in the seventh place match.
Individually, Mulligan finished the 2010-11 campaign with a 19-5 mark while Ward posted a 33-4 record. As a team, JWU was 16-6-1 overall and won their ninth straight Pilgrim League Championship.
