MIDDLETOWN, RI – A fast start translated into a big victory for the Johnson & Wales University women's lacrosse team. The Wildcats went on the road to defeat Salve Regina, 23-10, on Saturday.
Senior Raquel Pederzani and rookie Dani Lydecker each scored twice during a 7-1 Wildcat run within the first eight minutes of the game. Pederzani scored twice more in the opening stanza as Johnson & Wales took a 12-6 halftime lead.
Pederzani just missed her career high as she tallied eight points (5 goals, 3 assists). The Coventry, RI, native recorded nine points against Norwich on April 13, 2016.
Tying for the team-high was Patane with five goals and an assist. Lydecker and Allison Pazienski were next with four goals each.
Johnson & Wales won 21 of 33 draw controls and had a 43-23 margin in shots.
The Wildcats are on the road Wednesday at Emerson for a 7 p.m. contest.
