FITCHBURG, Mass. – The Johnson & Wales University women's lacrosse team didn't need a second half comeback to get a victory on Thursday. The Wildcats scored the first five goals on their way to a 10-7 triumph at Fitchburg State.

Attacker Gabrielle Vasile (Milford, Mass.) found the back of the net twice in the first 10 minutes of the game as part of a 5-0 JWU first-half run. She tallied the third of her team-high four goals with 3:22 left in the first half as the Wildcats took a 7-3 lead into the half.
Raquel Pederzani (Coventry, RI) and Madeline Bishara (Saunderstown, RI) scored in the first three minutes of the second half to increase the Wildcats' lead to 9-3. Pederzani joined Vasile and Lydia Knapp (Glens Falls, NY) with multiple points as she tallied a pair of goals. Knapp assisted on two of Vasile's goals and scored at the 15:29 mark of the first half to cap the 5-0 run.
A 12-7 advantage in draw controls led the Wildcats to a 26-17 margin for shots. Junior goalkeeper Marianna Consiglio (New Fairfield, Conn.) made six saves and converted 7-of-8 clear attempts.
Johnson & Wales is back at home on Wednesday when it plays host to Emerson at 7 p.m.
