Johnson & Wales Women’s Ice Hockey Falls 4-1 to Southern Maine in NEHC Opener

GORHAM, ME – On the road the Johnson & Wales University women's ice hockey team falls to Southern Maine Huskies, 4-1. Despite the loss, the Wildcats were able to get their first goal of the season.

Goaltenders:
JWU: Jasmine Mucci (L, 0-2-0) 27 saves, 3 Goals
SMU: Whitney Padgett (W, 1-1-0) 21 saves, 1 Goal

Of Note:
Johnson & Wales record stands at 0-3 while the Huskies gain their first win to improve 1-1-1. 

In the first period, the Huskies were able to score quickly in the fifth minutes of the game during a power play with a goal from Shannon Colbert, assisted by Julia Ormsby.

JWU's Kathryn Mason scored in the third period with the assist coming from Molly Gray.

Wildcat's goaltender Jasmine Mucci stopped 23 of 27 shots. Huskies goalie Whitney Padgett stopped 21 of 22 shots.
