PAWTUCKET, RI – A pair of first-period goals was all the Johnson & Wales University women's ice hockey team needed to record its third victory in a row. The Wildcats defeated Salem State University for the second time in two days in a 2-1 triumph on Saturday.

With the victory, the Wildcats won their ninth game of the season – equaling last year's team for the most wins in a season. The three-game winning streak also ties a program record.
With just 10 seconds left in the first frame, Julia Martinsson put back a missed shot for the eventual game-winner. The sophomore has scored at least one point in her last nine games.
It appeared JWU goalie Kami Weiner was going to get a shutout on Senior Night, but the Vikings pulled their goalie to make it a 6-on-3 advantage in the final minute. Amanda Giles ripped a shot from the point to pull the visitors within a goal.
The Wildcats and Vikings play a non-conference game Tuesday at Salem State.
