Women’s Ice Hockey Defeats Colby 1-0 For Zitek’s First Win

PAWTUCKET, RI – It took longer than hoped, but Johnson & Wales University women's ice hockey coach Natalie Zitek got her first victory as a head coach. The Wildcats picked up their first win of the year when they defeated Colby, 1-0, on Sunday.

Of Note:
Neither team could break through for a goal during the first two periods. JWU's defense kept the Mules off the scoreboard during the second frame as Colby outshot the Wildcats, 18-4.

Johnson & Wales took advantage of a penalty to start the third period. Kathy Ensor (St. Louis, Mo.) kept the puck in the Colby zone and Drea Westgaard (Elk River, Minn.) put back the rebound of Ensor's shot for the only goal just 1:16 into the period.

JWU goaltender Kami Weiner (Elk Grove Village, Ill.) stopped all 30 shots she faced to record her first shutout of the year and her first since the 2015-16 season.
