Women’s Ice Hockey Loses 4-1 at Endicott

BEVERLY, Mass. –  A four-goal deficit was too much for the Johnson & Wales University women's ice hockey team to overcome. The Wildcats lost a 4-1 decision at Endicott on Saturday.

The loss dropped the Wildcats to 0-5-1 overall, 0-3-1 in the CHC. The Gulls improved to 4-0-1 and 3-0-1 in the conference.

The hosts got a pair of goals in the opening period then another in the second frame. The Gulls scored their fourth goal midway through the third period before the Wildcats got on the board.

Freshman forward Drea Westgaard (Elk River, Minn.) scored for the third time in two games when she found the back of the net with 2:36 left in the game.  Fellow rookie Hannah Tracy (Hanson, Mass.) notched her team-leading third assist of the season and sophomore Taylor Davis (Windsor N.Y.) produced the first point of her collegiate career with an assist.

Endicott outshot the Wildcats, 53-21. Goalie Kami Weiner (Elk Grove Village, Ill.) made 49 saves.

Johnson & Wales will try to get its first win of the year when it travels to Becker for a 7 p.m. contest on Saturday.
