Women’s Ice Hockey Fall 5-1 to the Mustangs

PAWTUCKET, RI – Two goals in the first and second periods was more than enough for visiting Morrisville State on Saturday. The Mustangs defeated the Johnson & Wales University women's ice hockey team, 5-1.

Of Note:
Jessica Ujcik opened the scoring just 44 seconds into the game when she slid in front of the goal to beat JWU goaltender Kami Weiner (Elk Grove Village, Ill.). Kaitlyn Schlake ripped a slap shot from the point in the 14th minute for the eventual winning goal.

In the second period, Maddison Devlin scored on a wraparound goal at the 9:14 mark. Alexziz Giannamore tallied her second point of the day when she scored a goal on the blocker side two minutes later.

Johnson & Wales broke through for its first goal at the 12:35 mark of the third period. Rookie Drea Westgaard (Elk River, Minn.) poked home the loose puck for the first goal of her collegiate career.
