PLYMOUTH, NH – With limited defensive players in front of her, Johnson & Wales University women's hockey goalie Kami Weiner is doing her best to keep the Wildcats in every game. Despite making 76 saves, Weiner could not turn away them all as JWU dropped a 6-0 decision to Plymouth State on Friday.
Johnson & Wales' record dropped to 0-12 while the Panthers improved to 5-6 as they won their third game in a row.
The two teams were deadlocked for the first 10 minutes before Shannon Hickey scored at the 9:49 mark. Plymouth State added three more goals in the final five minutes of the period to take a 4-0 lead into the intermission. After the Wildcats held the Panthers scoreless in the second period, PSU struck for two more goals in the third.
The Wildcats got off five shots, with all five coming from left winger Kathy Ensor (St. Louis, Mo.). Weiner's (Elk Grove Village, Ill.) 76 saves are two shy of her career-high.
Johnson & Wales will get a second shot at Plymouth State when the two teams face off at 4:25 p.m. at Lynch Arena.
