SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. – The evolution of the Johnson & Wales University women's golf team continued on Saturday. The Wildcats started the Mt. Holyoke Invitational with the lowest round in the program's three-year history with an opening 385.
Prior to this year, the low round was 399. Johnson & Wales is in 13th place after one round, finishing ahead of Rhode Island College and Suffolk. NYU leads the tournament at 305.
Tying her career-low was junior Megan LeBlanc (Madison, Conn.) as she carded an 88. One stroke back was Alexis Anastos (Lock Haven, Pa.) in her collegiate debut. Sophomore Hannah Lifschin (Denville, N.J.) was one-shot off her career-best with an opening 103. Hannah Hall (Farmington, Utah) shot a 105 in her collegiate debut and sophomore Caroline Mettler (Bluffton, Ind.) rounded out the JWU scores with a 107.
The tournament concludes with the final 18 holes on Sunday.
