Women’s Basketball Falls To Framingham State, 54-49
The women's basketball team fell to Framingham State, 54-49 in a non-conference contest on the road on Thursday evening.
Sophomore Jenna Juron (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) led the way for Johnson & Wales with 13 points, four rebounds and three steals while fellow junior Marina Millian (Chester, N.Y.) added seven points and three boards in the setback for the Wildcats.
Emily Clark paced Framingham State with 13 points and four rebounds while Nicole Bostic had 12 points, four boards and three assists for the Rams. Michelle Hagerty added six points and a game-high 10 caroms in the victory.
Johnson & Wales jumped out to the early 9-2 lead on a jumper by Juron with 14:34 left in the first half. Framingham State then went on a 15-0 run, capped by a layup by Clark to put Framingham State up 17-9 with just under five minutes left in the first half. Framingham State took the 25-22 lead into the locker room at halftime.
The host Rams extended their lead midway through the second half when a free throw by Bostic made the score 43-31. Johnson & Wales chipped away at the lead and made the score 52-49 on a layup by Millian with 2:34 remaining. It would not be enough, however as Framingham State held on for the 54-49 victory.
With the loss Johnson & Wales falls to 2-7 for the year while Framingham State improves to 7-2 on the season. The Wildcats will return to action on Saturday, December 17th when they host Fisher for a non-conference contest at 5:00 p.m.
