Women’s Basketball Falls To Emmanuel, 75-29
The No. 8 seeded women's basketball team dropped a 75-29 decision against No. 1 seeded Emmanuel in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference quarterfinal game contest played in the Jean Yawkey Center on Tuesday evening.
Emmanuel had four players scored in double-figures, led by Breanna Ockimey (Philadelphia, Pa.) with 12 points. Kristin LeBel (Tolland, Conn.) and Fiona O'Dwyer (Stamford, Conn.) each finished with 11 points while Victoria Johnson (Syracuse, N.Y.) added 10 points in the victory for the Saints.
Freshman Jenna Juron (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) led the way for Johnson & Wales with 10 points and seven rebounds. Sophomore Ayla Walter (Mt. Pleasant, S.C.) added seven points and five rebounds in the setback for the Wildcats.
The game began with a 22-0 run by the Saints that spanned the opening seven minutes and Emmanuel cruised to the 46-point win.
Johnson & Wales wraps up the 2010-11 campaign with a 7-19 record while Emmanuel improves to 19-7. Emmanuel will host the 5th-seeded Blue Jays of Saint Joseph, Conn., on Thursday night in the GNAC semifinals.
