JWU Appoints Virginia Cardozo As Head Softball Coach

Johnson & Wales University Executive Director of Athletics John Parente has announced the hiring of Virginia Cardozo as head softball coach. Cardozo comes to JWU with a wealth of experience on the regional level as well as coaching at the international level. 

"I'm really excited to get back to the college game and I want to thank Mr. Parente for giving me this opportunity," Cardozo said.

Prior to arriving at JWU, Cardozo was the Director of Softball at Baseball Softball UK where she served as assistant coach for Great Britain's National Team and also held the position as head coach for the junior national squad. A well respected coach on the regional level, Cardozo was previously the head coach at UMass Dartmouth and is also familiar with the Great Northeast Athletic Conference, serving as head coach at Emmanuel College for three seasons.

No stranger to softball in Rhode Island, Cardozo was also the head coach at LaSalle High School and The Prout School. An active member of the community, Cardozo recently served as the Chair Person for the Town of Richmond Recreation Commission and is the Director of Recreation Services for the Exeter Jon Corps Academy.
