BOSTON – Back on the water for the first time during the spring portion of its schedule, the Johnson & Wales University sailing team had a good showing at the Central Series II competition. The Wildcats placed 10th at the event, hosted by Boston University on the Charles Rivier.
Johnson & Wales amassed 75 points to finish three points ahead of Bowdoin and three behind Brown. Tufts won the event with 28 points.
The A boat of junior Thomas Pluchino (Centerport, N.Y.) and senior Peter Sterflinger (Centerport, N.Y.) had a great afternoon as they placed fifth amongst all boats with a total of 17 points. The duo won the first race and finished no lower than seventh the entire day.
Freshman Brett Doty (Holtsville, NY) captained he B boat that totaled 58 points with junior Michael Campbell (Hinsdale, NH) serving as the crew. Their best performance came in the opening race when they placed 11th.
JWU has a pair of races next weekend with the Wildcats competing at the BU Trophy and Central Series III race.
