Sailing Hosts Second Annual Carmody Cup
The Sailing squad hosted the second annual Carmody Cup on Saturday afternoon as part of the school's Alumni Weekend.
The Wildcats sailed on a perfect day on the bay, northwesterly wind blowing 10-15 with occasional puffs up to 25 kts. JWU had five Alumni back for the event with seven of the current team members sailing as well. The day saw six sets of two races each. The skippers stayed with the boat and the crew rotated after each set up with one boat giving the crews the opportunity to sail with each skipper for two races. Some great racing with each skipper getting a first at least once. At the end of the day Betsy Loomis accumulated the least amount of points, winning the Carmody Cup for the skippers and Saul Alton winning for the crew.
The Wildcats will return to
action on October 16-17 when they travel to Mass. Maritime for the
Great Herring Pond Open.
