Men’s Cross Country Wins Fourth Straight GNAC Championship
The men's cross country team captured the Great Northeast Athletic Conference championship at Franklin Park on Saturday afternoon. It was the fourth straight conference crown and seventh in the illustrious history of the program. The Wildcats finished with 20 team points and an average team time of 26:22.00. Norwich was the next nearest competitor with 55 team points.
Junior Jeff Hartmann (Osseo, Minn.) won GNAC Runner of the Year on the 8K course in a time of 26:31 which was good first place. Sophomore Brian Dinan (Geneva, N.Y.) was right behind him in second place with a time of 27:03 while junior Greg Redfield (Penfield, N.Y.) clocked a time of 27:06 which was good for third. Senior Nathan Smith (Jamesburg, N.J.) rounded out the top-five finishers with a time of 27:10 and in fourth place. Freshman David Torres (Ann Arbor, Mich.) finished in 10th place for the Wildcats, finishing the course in a time of 28:26. Hartmann, Dinan, Redfield, Smith and Torres all earned All-GNAC accolades.
The Wildcats will return to action on Saturday, November 5th when they travel to the ECAC Championships.
