Men's Volleyball Falls To Sacred Heart, 3-0
Fairfield, Conn. - The Johnson & Wales University men's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision against Sacred Heart in a non-conference contest on the road on Wednesday evening. Sacred Heart posted a 30-26 win in game one, a 30-17 win in game two and wrapped up the sweep with a 30-21 victory in the third game.
Johnson & Wales was led by sophomore Petar Yanikiev (Varna, Bulguria) with three kills and six digs. Fellow sophomore Tim Haley (West Warwick, R.I.) and junior Eric Minnich (Concord, Calif.) each had three kills in the setback for the Wildcats. John Mercado paced Sacred Heart with eight kills and three digs. Garrett Minyard and Craig Harvey each had six kills in the victory for the Pioneers.
With the loss Johnson & Wales is now 5-12 for the year while Sacred Heart improves to 10-7. The Wildcats will return to action on Wednesday, March 10th when they travel to Mount Ida for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest at 7:00 p.m.
