Men’s Tennis Falls To Coast Guard, 6-3

The men's tennis team fell to Coast Guard, 6-3 in a non-conference contest on the road on Tuesday afternoon.

Freshman Ian Huxel (Newburgh, N.Y.) posted a 6-3, 7-5 win at the third singles spot for Johnson & Wales while junior Drew Pontillo (Slingerlands, N.Y.) posted a 2-6, 6-1, 7-5 victory at No. 4 singles.  Freshman Jack McGuire (Great Mills, Md.) rounded out the winners for the Wildcats, taking a 6-1, 6-4 win at No. 5 singles.  John Lightner had a pair of victories in the win for Coast Guard, posting a 6-3, 6-3 win at No, 2 singles and an 8-0 win with Matt Faha at No. 3 doubles.

With the loss Johnson & Wales falls to 2-2 on the season  while Coast Guard improves to 2-1 for the year.  The Wildcats will return to action on Saturday, March 31st when they host Norwich for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest, starting at 1:00 p.m.
