JWU Men’s Soccer & Rhode Island College Play to 1-1 Draw

PROVIDENCE, RI – Penalty kicks factored into a goal for both the Johnson & Wales University men's soccer team and Rhode Island College on Tuesday. However, neither team could come up with a second goal as the Wildcats and Anchormen tied 1-1.

Johnson & Wales ran its unbeaten streak to 14 as its record moves to 14-1-2. RIC is now 7-7-2.

The Wildcats were whistled for a foul in the box at the 64:31 mark of the second half. Dennis Vazquez drilled his penalty kick into the left corner to give the Anchormen a 1-0 lead.

As time ran down in regulation, RIC committed a foul with 3:50 remaining. Jozef Jennings's (Barrington, R.I.) penalty kick was blocked, but Jazario Brimmer (Pembroke, Bermuda) was there to score off the rebound and tie the game.

Despite several good opportunities, neither team scored in the overtime periods. Johnson & Wales had a slight 14-13 advantage in shots.
