CHICOPEE, Mass. – The Johnson & Wales University men's soccer team got a pair of second-half insurance goals that allowed the Wildcats to cruise to victory on Saturday. JWU posted a 3-0 win at Elms.
Johnson & Wales: 10-1-1
It's been nearly a month since Johnson & Wales suffered a defeat. The Wildcats are unbeaten in their last nine games with an 8-0-1 mark since September 9.
JWU posted its eighth shutout of the season. The Wildcats have not allowed more than one goal in any of their 12 matches. JWU keeper Nicholas Mancini (Toms River, N.J.), who posted a season-high seven saves to get the victory, has a 0.33 goals against average.
Sophomore Erik Schneider (Plantsville, Conn.) scored the only goal JWU would need in the 29th minute. He put back the rebound of his own header.
Classmate Jason Cruz (Providence, R.I.) factored into both of the second half goals. In the 64th minute, he gathered the loose ball in front of the net and ripped it for his first goal of the year. Sixteen minutes later, his crossing pass led to Chris Schmid's (Clifton Park, N.Y.) score.
Johnson & Wales plays its third road game in a row when it travels to Regis on Wednesday for a 4 p.m. affair.
