BOSTON – One of the best defenses in the country kept another opponent off the scoreboard on Wednesday. The Johnson & Wales University men's soccer team went on the road to defeat Emmanuel, 1-0.

The Wildcats have not given up a goal in their last 442 minutes. Johnson & Wales is ranked 12th in the NCAA with a 0.33 goals against average.
The win was Johnson & Wales' sixth in a row. All six have been by one goal, including four-straight 1-0 decisions.
With less than 16 minutes left in regulation, Erick Goncalves (Cumberland, R.I.) broke the 0-0 tie. He pulled the ball out of a scrum and drilled it into the net for the first goal of his collegiate career.
The Wildcats had a 21-3 advantage in shots, including 10-1 on goal. JWU goalkeeper Nicholas Mancini (Toms Rivier, N.J.) only had to make one save for his eighth victory.
Johnson & Wales returns home to face Norwich on Saturday at 1 p.m. The Cadets knocked the Wildcats out of last year's GNAC Tournament.
