PROVIDENCE, RI – An eight-goal deficit was too much for the Johnson & Wales University men's lacrosse team to overcome on Saturday. The Wildcats lost 19-11 to Clark in their season opener.
Johnson & Wales: 0-1
Johnson & Wales was shutout in the first quarter and didn't get on the board until the 6:17 mark of the second quarter when Max Stone scored his first goal of the year. By that point, the Wildcats were already trailing 8-0.
JWU scored four-straight goals in the third quarter – including two more from Stone – and three more in the fourth period to pull within 14-10 on a Thomas Lyons goal with 9:23 remaining. Unfortunately, the Cougars outscored the Wildcats 5-1 the rest of the way for the victory.
The Wildcats are back at home on Wednesday to take on Curry at 4 p.m.
