Men's Ice Hockey Pulls Out 3-2 OT Win at Castleton

Rutland, Vt.– Connor Bechtel scored with 50 seconds remaining in the overtime to lift the Johnson & Wales University men's ice hockey team to victory on Saturday. The Wildcats defeated Castleton, 3-2, for their first victory as a member of the NEHC.

Of Note:
Castleton got on the board first with a goal from Glenn Wiswell 10 minutes into the first period.

After a scoreless second period, JWU's offense came to life in the third with a goal from Matt Bernot at 4:48 and another from Ryan Sete four minutes later.

Castleton responded with the equalizer at the 11:47 mark and neither team could score the rest of regulation to send the game to overtime.

In the final minute of overtime, Bechtel broke through for the game-winner. It's his second game-winning goal in the last four games.

The OT win broke a streak of nine-straight matches without an overtime victory. JWU's last win in the extra five minutes was 5-4 over Nichols on February 20, 2016.
