Men’s Ice Hockey Shuts Out Assumption 1-0

WORCESTER, Mass. – One goal is all the Johnson & Wales University men's ice hockey team needed to pick up its first victory of the season. The Wildcats went on the road to blank Assumption College, 1-0, on Tuesday.

The win improved the Wildcats to 1-4-2. The Greyhounds dropped to 7-3.

Connor Bechtel scored the lone goal of the game just 58 seconds into the third period. Bechtel, who leads the Wildcats with three goals, has scored a point in four out of his last five games.

Senior goaltender Tyler Ellor stopped all 38 shots he faced for the first shutout of his career. JWU was outshot, 38-26.

Johnson & Wales is back on the ice Sunday at Western New England for a 4 pm puck drop.
