Men’s Hockey Comes up Short Against Nichols 4-2

PROVIDENCE, RI – Two goals in the second period made the difference as the Johnson & Wales University men's ice hockey team lost its annual contest at the Dunkin' Donuts Center on Thursday. The Wildcats fell 4-2 to Nichols

The victory improved the Bison to 12-6-2 overall and 7-4-2 in the CCC. Johnson & Wales dropped to 5-15, 3-10 in the league.

Nichols was on its way to a 2-0 lead after the first period until Craig Hessenius (Brookfield, Conn.) took the pass from Chad Guderian (Coppell, Texas) and scored his fourth goal of the season. The Bison gave themselves a 4-1 margin thanks to a pair of second-period goals.

Johnson & Wales picked up its second goal in the final minute of the third period. Graham Day (Rochester, Mich.) slid the puck to Anthony Scarcella (Providence, RI) in the slot and he hammered home the one-timer for his first career goal.

The Wildcats go to Nichols on Saturday for a 4:40 p.m. contest.
