WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Despite several good scoring opportunities, the Johnson & Wales University men's ice hockey team couldn't breakthrough at Western New England on Saturday. The Wildcats lost a 2-0 CCC contest to the Golden Bears.
The loss dropped Johnson & Wales to 5-14 overall and 3-9 in the conference. Western New England improved to 8-9-2, 3-8-1 in the CCC.
The Wildcats had a 30-26 advantage in shots, but WNEU goaltender Kevin Gollmer stopped every shot he faced.
Western New England took advantage of the power play to get the first goal of the game at the 7:44 mark of the second period. Matt O'Dea made it a 2-0 advantage with his score midway through the third period.
The Wildcats play their annual Hockey at the Dunk game on Thursday, taking on Nichols at 8 p.m.
