Western New England Rallies to Beat JWU Men’s Hockey 4-3

PAWTUCKET, RI – Two goals in the final four minutes by visiting Western New England flipped a victory to a loss for the Johnson & Wales University men's ice hockey team. The Wildcats dropped a 4-3 contest to the Golden Bears on Thursday.

Of Note:
Victor Carlsson (Calmar, Sweden) scored his second goal of the game on a third-period power play to put JWU up 3-2. Carlsson leads the Wildcats with 11 goals.

The Wildcats were four minutes from victory when WNEU's Matt O'Dea tallied a short-handed goal to even the contest. Two minutes later, Matt Smethurst found the back of the net to give Western New England the victory.

The Golden Bears started the scoring with a goal midway through the first period. Carlsson scored just before the first period intermission then Graham Day (Rochester, Mich.) notched his fifth goal of the year at the 8:04 mark the second period to give JWU the lead.  Day added an assist on Carlsson's second goal.

Johnson & Wales had a 34-25 advantage in shots, but WNEU goalie Kevin Gollmer came up with 31 saves.
