Men’s Ice Hockey Loses 8-4 Shootout at UNE

BIDDEFORD, Maine – Giving up five goals in the second period was more than the Johnson & Wales University men's ice hockey team could overcome on Friday. The Wildcats lost a wild 8-4 decision at the University of New England in the CCC opener.

Of Note:
The Nor'Easters scored in the first two minutes of the game, but the Wildcats didn't wait long to answer. Junior Nicholas Pezza (Smithfield, R.I.) got a pass from Graham Day (Rochester, Minn.) and scored his first goal of the season.

UNE scored quickly to start the second period then followed with four more goals to extend its lead to 6-1.

Johnson & Wales tried to close the gap as Craig Hessenius (Brookfield, Conn.), Tristan Goodwin (East Haven, Conn.) and Chad Guderian (Coppell, Texas) all scored in the third period. Hessenius has two goals in the first two games of his collegiate career.
