PAWTUCKET, RI. – A team searching for its first win of the season is a dangerous team.  The Johnson & Wales men's ice hockey team dropped its second game in a row, losing 2-1 to Wentworth on Thursday night.

The Leopards picked up their first victory of the year, improving to 1-4, 1-2 in the CCC. The loss dropped the Wildcats to 2-2 overall, 1-2 in the CCC.

It took nearly 30 minutes for the first goal to be scored. Sophomore Victor Carlsson (Kalmar, Sweden) took the pass from Nicholas Pezza (Smithfield, RI) and shot from the right point for his first career goal at the 8:47 mark of the second period.

Wentworth got the equalizer just three minutes into the third period. Adam Lane took a long pass from Dakoda Menslage and scored on a breakaway goal. The Leopards took the lead in the 47th minute when Jake Flynn blasted a slap shot from the right point.

Despite making 24 saves, JWU goalkeeper Joey Ballmer (Kalamazoo, Mich.) was saddled with the loss, dropping his record to 2-2. His Wentworth counterpart Ryan Hubbard came up big in net, making 29 saves to improve to 1-3.  Neither team could score on the power play as the Wildcats were 0-4 and the Leopards 0-3.
