Men’s Golf in 3rd Place on Day One of Duke Nelson

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – The Johnson & Wales University men's golf team started the 2018-19 season with a strong first round at the Duke Nelson Invitational. The Wildcats carded an opening 294 and sit in third place after the first 18 holes.

The 294 is the lowest score the Wildcats have posted since a 295 in the final round of the 2014 GNAC Championship. NYU leads with a 291 and Williams College is a stroke in front of JWU.

Leading the way was sophomore Claudio Soukamneuth with a one-under score of 70 that has him in second place. Junior Alex Parente is tied for 10th with a 73 and sophomore Matt Daley is one stroke back in 19th place.

In his first round as a Wildcat, junior Mac Patch posted a 77. Hunter DiLorenzo rounded out the JWU scores with an 80.

The tournament concludes Sunday with the final 18 holes at the Ralph Myhre Golf Course.
