Wildcats in 13th Place After Round One of NCAA Championship

GREENSBORO, NC – After a rocky start, the Johnson & Wales University men's golf team found its way on the back nine of the first round of the NCAA Championships. The Wildcats are in 13th place following an opening-round score of 302 on the West Course of the Grandover Resort.

Thunderstorms halted round one on Tuesday afternoon and it concluded Wednesday morning. The second 18 holes will be a shotgun start at 11 a.m.

Leading the way was sophomore Alex Parente as he shot an even-par 72 to tie for 17th. Rookie Claudio Soukamneuth was three shots back with a 75 and Christian Maselli tallied a 76. Hunter DiLorenzo and Ryan Malloy fired 79 and 81, respectively.

Gilford College and Emory are tied after the opening 18 holes with a 283. Following the second round, the field will be cut to the top 18 teams as well as the top six individual players not on one of those 18 teams.
