WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – The Johnson & Wales University men's golf team is taking on one of the top courses in New England, Taconic Golf Club, during the Williams Invitational. The Wildcats opened the tournament with a score of 325 on Saturday and are in 13th place
Johnson & Wales is only five strokes back of crosstown rival Rhode Island College. Trinity College has a one-shot lead on the hosts.
GNAC Rookie of the Week Adam Ely (Essex, Vt.) shot the low JWU round of the day with a 79. Sophomore Christian Maselli (Exeter, R.I.) and rookie Claudio Soukamneuth (Cranston, R.I.) each shot an 81. It was the first round of Soukamneuth's collegiate career. Sophomore Alex Parente (North Kingstown, RI) was next with an 84 and in his first collegiate round, Hunter DiLorenzo (Boxborough, Mass.) shot 85.
The tournament concludes with the final 18 holes on Sunday.
