NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. – The Johnson & Wales University men's golf team placed 13th at its first event of the spring, the Hampton Inn Collegiate Invitational. Hosted by UMass Dartmouth at the Allendale Country Club, the Wildcats posted a two-day score of 674.
After firing 334 on the first day, Johnson & Wales shot 340 during the second 18 holes. Tufts won the event with a 36-hole total of 620.
The lowest round of the weekend was fired by freshman Alex Parente (North Kingstown, RI) as he posted a 79 during the second loop for a two-day total of 160 that tied for 15th. Senior Jon Nelson (Pembroke, Mass.) followed with a 169 (83-86).
Rookie Christian Maselli (Exeter, RI) shaved a stroke off his first round for a 36-hole total of 169 (85-84). Completing the JWU scores were Kyle Newcomb (Foxboro, Mass.) at 181 (85-96) and Dawson Campbell (Newport, NH) with a 194 (103-91).
Johnson & Wales is back on the links April 22-23 when it hosts the Wildcat Spring Invitational at the Cranston Country Club.
