Men’s Basketball Falls 88-79 to #20 John Carroll at Coles Classic

BUFFALO, NY – The Johnson & Wales University men's basketball team got an early test at the Coles Classic, hosted by Buffalo State University. The Wildcats made a second-half run, but lost 88-79 to #20 John Carroll on Friday.

Statistical Leaders:
Brian Hogan-Gary (JWU): 23 points
Randall Ferdinand (JWU): 24 points, 10 rebounds

Of Note:
Midway through the first half, the Wildcats found themselves down 26-16. A Matt Madoian three-pointer at the 8:53 mark cut the lead to 28-26, but the Blue Streaks responded and took a 44-38 lead into the locker room.

The Wildcats made a run to start the second half and took a 49-48 lead on a Brian Hogan-Gary layup at the 16:48 mark. Another Hogan-Gary layup with 3:29 tied the game, but JCU finished on a 12-3 run to seal the victory.

Senior forward Randall Ferdinand posted his first double-double of the year with 23 points and 10 rebounds. Hogan-Gary was one point back and Donovian Maxfield came off the bench to score 15 points.

The Blue Streaks did their damage from three-point range, hitting 11 threes compared to five by the Wildcats. John Carroll also had a 50-37 rebounding advantage.
