Men’s Basketball Knocks Off Lasell, 73-57
The men's basketball team posted a 73-57 victory against Lasell in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest on the road on Thursday evening.
Johnson & Wales was led by senior Lamonte Thomas (Providence, R.I.) with 29 points, five rebounds and five assists while fellow senior James Folk (Lawrence, Mass.) had 11 points and senior Mike Harris (Providence, R.I.) notched 10 points in the victory for the Wildcats.
Javon Williams paced Lasell with 19 points and seven rebounds while Domink Orloff had 13 points and five boards in the setback for the Lasers.
JWU jumped out to the early 15-4 lead after a layup by Harris with 13:15 left in the first half. The Wildcats continued to build on their lead and took the 38-24 lead into the locker room at halftime.
It was more of the same in the second half as the Wildcats grabbed a 70-44 lead on a jumper by Thomas with just over five minutes left in the contest. JWU would then hold on for the 73-57 victory.
With the win JWU improves to 4-8 overall and 3-2 in the GNAC while Lasell falls to 4-9 for the year and 3-3 in league play. The Wildcats will return to action on Saturday, January 14th when they host Emmanuel for a GNAC contest, starting at 1:00 p.m.
