Thomas named GNAC Player of the Year

The leading scorer in all of college basketball was tabbed the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Player of the Year on February 24, 2011. Wildcat junior Lamonte Thomas (Providence, R.I.) was given the honors along with a First Team All-Conference selection. Senior Darren Faust (Queens, N.Y.) was selected to the All-Conference Third Team.

Thomas led the way for the Wildcats all season long with his 30.4 points per game and 6.1 assists per contest. The Providence native led all scorers in all divisions with his 30.4 points per game while leading the GNAC with his 6.1 assists. Thomas had a game-high 47 points against Lasell in the beginning of February and an impressive 40 point - 20 assist outing in the conference semifinals against Albertus Magnus.

Faust was 3-point threat all season long making 39.4% of his attempts. Faust also surpassed the 1,000 point plateau in the beginning portion of the season. He had a personal season-high 28 points in an 8-13 effort in the middle of January against UMass Dartmouth. Faust ranked 5th in the conference in blocked shots with 1.2 per game, while two came in the semifinals and finals of the conference playoffs.
