Regis Rallies to Defeat JWU Field  Hockey 2-1 in Overtime

PROVIDENCE, RI – For the first 63 minutes of Saturday's game, the Johnson & Wales University field hockey team was in control against visiting Regis College. The Pride rallied for a goal to tie the game then Ashley Chipman scored in overtime to give Regis the victory.

Records:
Regis: 7-4, 2-3 GNAC
Johnson & Wales: 2-8, 1-4 GNAC

Statistical Leaders:
Giovanna Ciavardoni (JWU): 1 goal
Ashley Chipman (RC): 1 goal (GW)

Of Note:
Johnson & Wales didn't waste time getting on the board in the first half. Giovanna Ciavardoni (Latham, N.Y.) got a pass from Shaina Thompson (Delmar, Del.) and put it in the back of the net for her fourth goal of the year.

Aineen Callahan tied the game in the 64th minute when she deflected Hailee Forest's centering pass into the goal. Just 1:22 into the extra frame, Chipman flipped the ball towards the goal and it bounced off a JWU defender for the game-winner.

The Wildcats out-shot the Pride, 16-7, but Regis goalkeeper Maresa Malcolm came up with five saves.
