Field Hockey Drops 2-0 Decision at Saint Joseph’s

STANDISH, Maine. – Goals were tough to come by for both teams as the Johnson & Wales University field hockey team went on the road Saturday to take on Saint Joseph's College. Unfortunately, the Wildcats came out on the short end of a 2-0 loss to the Monks.

The loss dropped the Wildcats to 2-6, 1-3 in the GNAC. The Monks improved to 4-0 in the GNAC and 6-3 overall.

SJC got out to a 1-0 lead with a goal in the 11th minute. The Wildcats held the Monks at bay until three minutes into the second half when Saint Joseph's scored again. JWU made a final push in the last five minutes but couldn't get the ball in the net.

The two teams were evenly matched with the Monks holding a slight 11-6 advantage in shots and 8-6 for penalty corners. JWU goalkeeper Claire Nolan (West Bridgewater, Mass.) made four saves.

The Wildcats are back at home on Tuesday to take on Eastern Connecticut State at 7 p.m.
