IHSA Equestrian Team Competes at UMD Show

REHOBOTH, Mass. – For the second time in two days, the Johnson & Wales University IHSA equestrian team was in action. The Wildcats took fourth at the UMass Dartmouth show at the Silverstone Stables that was a make-up from October 27.

Johnson & Wales was just two points from taking the top spot. The co-host Corsairs and Rhode Island College tied for the win with 34 points. Brown was next at 33 points.

Winning the blue ribbon in intermediate over fences was Heather Jarvis. She also recorded a third-place finish in novice on flat. JWU had three top-five riders in that event as Kelsey Barker was fourth and Hayley Bernardo took fifth.

Senior Caitlyn Walker took home first place in her division of novice over fences. Alanna Ryan was fourth in her flight. Walker also notched a third-place ride in intermediate on flat while Sophia Johnston claimed fifth.

Advanced walk trot canter also provided a trio of top-five finishes. Lauren Cheney was second, followed by Emily Swirsky in third and Kristin Bernard at fourth.

Sophomore Jennifer DePietro turned in a fourth-place performance in open over fences. Arrianna Landry was fourth in walk trot while Bryce Hall notched a fifth-place finish in open on flat.

Johnson & Wales wraps up the fall campaign at the Assumption Show on November 17.
