IHSA Equestrian Takes Second at RWU Show

TIVERTON, RI –  The Johnson & Wales University IHSA equestrian team just missed out on a victory Saturday. The Wildcats came in second at the Roger Williams show, held at the Nora Harris Equestrian Center.  

Turning in the top performance of the weekend was Hannah Coutu as she won the blue ribbon in open flat. Sophomore Jennifer DePietro was a second-place finisher in open over fences. Also notching a second-place score was Abby Bourque in beginner walk trot canter.

In her first collegiate competition, Raquel Sousa took third in advanced walk trot canter. Caitlyn Walker and Alanna Ryan tied for third in intermediate on flat. During novice on flat, Katie Cassidy placed third.

Notching a fourth-place finish was Arrianna Landry in walk trot. Earning fifth-place finishes were Heather Jarvis in intermediate over fence and Erin Lavigne in novice over fences.

JWU has a pair of competition next week at the University of Rhode Island on Saturday and a Sunday show at UMass Dartmouth.
