DePietro Wins IHSA National Championship!

HARRISBURG, Pa. – Johnson & Wales University freshman Jennifer DePietro set the bar pretty high in her first year of collegiate riding. She capped her first season by winning the individual national championship in intermediate over fences at the IHSA National Championships on Thursday.

The championship was held at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg, Pa.

The Atkinson, NH, native is the first IHSA rider to win a national championship and the second by a JWU student-athlete this year. Wrestler Jay Albis won the NCAA national championship at 125 pounds in March.

DePietro is the third Wildcat rider to win a national championship. Samantha Burke (2014) and Julia McNellis (2013) won titles for the JWU IDA program.
