Baseball Falls 5-4 to Anchormen

PROVIDENCE RI – The Rhode Island College baseball team rallied for a pair of runs in the ninth inning to defeat Johnson & Wales University. The Wildcats dropped a 5-4 contest to the Anchormen.

Records:
Rhode Island College: 12-8
Johnston & Wales: 15-7

Statistical Leaders:
Rob Ballinger: 2-3, 2 R
Raimiel Rodriguez: 1-6, 1 RBI, 1 R

Of Note:
JWU only had one hit in the fifth, but tied the game with a pair of runs. Tim Lombardi beat out a double play that allowed Rob Ballinger – who started the inning with the lone hit – to score. Third baseman Bryan Bessler reached on a fielder's choice with the bases loaded, scoring Will Fritz.  

Ballinger led off the eighth with a double then scored on an Raimiel Rodriguez single. Rodriguez stole second then crossed the plate on Edison Mercado's single.

The Anchormen got a run back in the eighth then the winning runs in the bottom of the ninth. Brad Douglas hit a two-out single to score a pair of runs off JWU reliever Josh Mousseau.
