MYRTLE BEACH, SC – The Johnson & Wales University baseball team had a trend during its spring break trip of breaking out the bats every other game. The Wildcats had the offense going on Saturday as they defeated Lehman 14-2 at the Ripken Experience Complex.
Johnson & Wales: 3-2
Johnson & Wales did most of its damage during a sixth-run fourth inning. Aidan Hagarty ripped an RBI double to score Ballinger then Adam Diehl and Edison Mercado had back-to-back RBI singles. Third baseman Joe Maracic cleared the bases with an RBI triple.
That was more than enough offense for starting pitcher Keith Grant, who threw his second gem of the trip. He didn't allow a run in seven innings of work with five strikeouts.
JWU wraps up its trip with a 1 p.m. contest at Mary Washington on Sunday.
