Michael Trudeau enters his 4th season as the Head Men’s Soccer Coach at Johnson & Wales University in 2010-11.

In his first year with the program, the team experienced many growing pains and changes as Trudeau replaced the only men’s coach in school history, who had been with the program for 14 years.  Trudeau was hired four days prior to pre-season beginning in 2008 but still managed to bring the team to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference playoffs.

Trudeau came to Johnson & Wales after serving as the Assistant Men’s Coach at Bryant University in Smithfield, RI.  During his time there Bryant’s Mens team compiled a 33-27-10 record, qualifying for the Northeast-10 Conference playoffs each of the 5 years including making it to the semi-finals in 2005 and a regional ranking of No. 4 – just one spot shy of a berth in the NCAA tournament.

Prior to his arrival at Bryant, Trudeau spent 12 seasons from 1991-2003 as the Assistant Varsity Coach, Head Goalkeeper Coach and Head Junior Varsity Coach at Bishop Hendricken High School in Warwick, RI.  Trudeau assisted in guiding this program which included numerous All-State and All-Division selections as well as winning the 1998 RI State Championship and an undefeated season in 1999.

Trudeau has coached at the Premier level at Bayside United, most recently for Bruno United and is currently in his 5th year as a staff coach for Rhode Island’s Olympic Development Program.  He has coached at camps and clinics throughout New England, including those run by Mike Noonan, current Clemson University Head Coach and former Brown University Head Coach; Cliff Stevenson, former Head Coach at Brown University and Dan Gaspar, Portugal National Team Staff and Goalkeeper Coach.

In addition to his coaching duties at the youth and college levels, Trudeau has served as the Head Coach for the Special Olympics Unified soccer team at the J. Arthur Trudeau Memorial Center in Warwick, RI since 1998.  During this time the team has won 9 Gold Medals at the State Games, held each year at the University of Rhode Island.

A native of Warwick, RI, Trudeau was a Goalkeeper at Franklin Pierce College in Rindge, NH where he amassed 0.44 goals against average and the team was ranked as high as #4 nationally.  He then transferred to Rhode Island College where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology in 1995.
